CHILD’S HEALTH: DEVELOPMENTS, EMERGING RISKS AND PREVENTION”

The Cyprus National Committee on Environment and Children’s Health (NCECH) and the Paediatric Society of Cyprus (PSC) are co-organizing the 19 th annual Educational Seminar of the NCECH, on Wednesday, October 11th and Thursday October 12th 2023. The two-day Seminar is being organized under the auspices of Minster of Health Dr. Popi Kanari, who will officially launch the seminar on Thursday October the 12th, at 2.30 pm.

At the onset of the 21st century, development has brought thousands of rapidly increasing man-made substances and new technologies, which is not possible to be effectively control, as far as their impact on health in concerned, especially on a developing organism, such as a fetus or a child. The constantly growing climate change and particularly the deterioration of the air quality, also causes adverse impacts on children’s health. The challenge of protecting them is huge for us, and it can only be faced on the basis of the combination of Scientific Documentation and the Precautionary Principle and reduction of the exposure to toxic agents.

So, our goal is to PREVENT, through education-awareness, and to EMPOWER children, parents, teachers, medical professionals and everyone who is related to children. At this year’s seminar, we will have the pleasure of hosting eminent speakers of international reputation from Cyprus and Greece, who will cover a wide range of topics regarding the risks and impacts of climate change, of new nicotine and tobacco products, of genetic factors, of the misuse of new technology and its impacts on children’s
mental and physical health etc.

Participation in the two-day Seminar is open to everyone, both days. The focus of the 1st day will be on parents, teachers and the general public, while the focus of the 2nd day will be on doctors and other scientists specialized in children’s health.

The Seminar is accredited with 3 CME (Continuing Medical Education) credits by the Cyprus Medical Association and each participant will receive a certificate. There is no participation fee, but due to limited space, the applicants will be taken into consideration in order of priority. So, it is recommended that people who are interested fill in the following registration form, until 06.10.2023.
